Northwest Knitter

Hi! I am am a 4th year medical student, sailor, and knitter in Seattle, WA. If all goes as planned, knitting and playing with boats will keep me sane while in school! Recently, I have gotten woo'ed by "going green" and am doing my best to improve and consume/waste less...

I'm back!

Ack! Last quarter kicked me square in the butt, but I might have finally slept it off. Now I am on vacation at the Quillayute River Resort (near Forks, WA) to celebrate the new year and have one last break before school starts again. Surprisingly, I have great wireless internet access, so it's time to update the blog! First things first: I got tagged by Erin. Here goes:

"Six Wierd Things About Me"
1. I am OCD about my alarm clock. I have to click the switch to "alarm" three times before I am satisfied that it is set each night. I also set it for exactly 8 hours from when I go to bed unless I am prevented by an early obligation.

2. I only like weak coffee! Pretty wierd for a Seattleite. Diner coffee is my favorite.

3. I hate wearing jewelry. I have tried at several points in my life, but can't seem to understand why you would want to wear something that gets caught in your hair/clothes/food when you can avoid it. For that matter, though, I rarely if ever subscribe to the idea that it is a good idea to be a bit uncomfortable to be beautiful. No fashion, no makeup, no pointy shoes...

4. I love bright colored yarn and fibers, and collect them with wild abandon. I avoid buying clothes that cost more than $25 unless I have to, but dropping $200 on yarn in one outing is not unusual... Oh, and I have enough sock yarn to keep me in socks until I retire.

5. I hate raisins and bananas unless they are partially green. On the other hand, I love almost anything pickled! Pickles, pickled asparagus, peas, garlic, olives, even bologna! (As I write this, my sig o handed me a pickled asparagus spear despite having no idea what I was writing!)

6. I hate making dirty dishes, and I go to great lengths to keep reusing dishes rather than have to wash more. (And we have a dishwasher!)

Alright, back to the knitting. The back of my rainbow sweater is 4 rows from being finished!
